Sacred Geometry: Mathematics, History and Myth

Circles, ratios and solids that have fascinated builders and philosophers for millennia. We approach them as mathematics and history, and we say clearly where the mystical claims go beyond the evidence.

Sacred geometry sits at the edge of our subject: it is less about how the brain produces experience than about why certain forms feel meaningful to the minds that perceive them. That makes it a good test case for our method. The mathematics is often beautiful and exact; the historical record is patchy; and many popular claims mix the two with symbolism.

Our approach

  • Mathematics first: every figure we discuss can be constructed or proved, and we show how.
  • History with sources: we distinguish what ancient builders and thinkers documented from later attributions.
  • No energetic claims: we have found no evidence that shapes emit energy or alter consciousness, and we say so.
  • Perception, honestly: our attraction to symmetry and pattern has explanations in cognitive science, which we cover.
